I Can Tell

I CAN TELL, Another blues classic where the Pirates intensification of the British Rock feel is easily heard when compared to the terrific Bo Diddley (1962) version, up first -

Here is the ( also 1962 ) Johnny Kidd & The Pirates version, with the Mick Green almost percusssive chord-playing which influenced so many '60s and '70s musicians...love the simple 4-note intro which cues in the drums and bass so tightly -

And finally, this ( then 20-yr-old ) drummer's old band, The Storms, making a fair crack in 1965 at being the first ever J.Kidd & The Pirates 'tribute band' before such a concept had hit the streets...two things to note upfront (!) yep, that's my hairy bonce hiding the naughty-bit; and second, there are snippets of the two tracks  which were played live before and after 'I Can Tell' - the end of 'No Reply' and the beginning of 'Memphis Tennessee' - oh, third point : this recording was made with one mic hanging on the wall leading into an old Grundig reel-to-reel tape machine, a tape which was dug out of an attic about 4 years ago, transferred onto a CD recorder, and finally uploaded to a computer through a guitar-lead plugged into a cheap CD-player. A studio-recording might have been something like twice as good -

Now, this is the whole point of this blog - unlock that well-hidden secret, your 'MyLastTrack', and name it Here ! But more than that - pen a few lines about what the track means to you, maybe when and where it hit you as 'the' track in your life - and don't even think about some concept of THE cool music. No negativity is welcome here - really not interested in anyone jumping on other peoples' serious choices. One person's heart & soul is their's alone, and the music that moves them is absolutely authentic for them. Obviously, i love The Pirates, but i have been floored by so many performers that are completely different to them and to each other - how about Mahalia Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Eva Cassidy to name just three. Fear no-one, conform to no 'taste' - tell the world about your absolute number one ( last ) track - pls ! Thanks, paul.
